Puerta Vallarta's Rainy SeasonShould I be concerned about the rainy season in late September? It depends.
Rainy season usually lasts until from June 10-15 until about November 9-12. It can rain from 2-6 hours per day or just 1-2 hours or drizzle all day! You will never know. It will be muggy - I literally mean you will take a step and sweat at the same time. Your air conditioner in your hotel room will be running non-stop all day and night. Activities will be limited during your visit as this is the time that most of the workers usually take their vacation. They get usually two or four weeks vacation depending on their employment status. There is also a lot of other Mexican people from other parts of Mexico that visit PV at this time. I have been to PV in September and it doesn't bother me so long as I am in PV. Most of the people are used to it and go about their normal daily business. Beachtime will be limited from about 9:30A until about 1-2PM. It will almost always rain at night. The streets will be like rivers in some spots, but do not fear! You will ! not be washed away! Some of the daily tours will not be available and others will. Check with your activities desk at your hotel.
If you pay a high price back home to see a movie, this is a good time to see one in PV. It only costs about $2.50 - $3.00 at any of the cinemas, so check their schedule in the Vallarta Today newspaper or the PV Tribune. Lynn Another opinion: The rain is wonderful in P.V. anywhere from July to October...we love to be there. It is really HOT but the rains are cooling and refreshing. Sometimes it just rains at night... but even if it rains during the day the only thing you can't do at that time is sunbathe... There are usually plenty of sunny days even during the rainy season. We have been going down over July 4th for 13 years... We wouldn't miss that time of year. One last thing about the rainy season that we love, less people, so you never have to wait for anything. Anyway you can almost never have a bad time in P.V. Enjoy, Jenny
